It's the same specs. MOV is fine. Look for H.264, or AVC. Try 640x480 for high quality, and 1280x720 for HD widescreen. Sometimes it's under MP4. My version of iMovie is really old or I'd help more.

i use pinnacle studio 12 and when i put in the 480x360 when i go to upload it it is still 320x280... how can i fix this?

You mean it's in low quality (320x240, 320x180) on YT? My guess is resolution. Some formats do not allow 480x360 so pinnacle may actually make it smaller. Try 640x480.

Hello Derek, I just want to say that I am very happy you made this vid, it cleared some stuff up for me, but there are other things I am not so sure about. If you go to my channel, a test channel, and look at all of my videos, theyre all of the same game recorded with the same device. What I am having trouble figuring out is why some videos have "Watch in High Quality", and some dont. I used the Diamond One-Touch Video Capture VC500. It is old, but it should work. Help?

There's got to be a reason (bitrate can be tough on certain videos - see the video response that looks like a Simpson on that). But install MediaInfo, configure to text view, copy & paste the specs of a video that isn't working, and message them to me.

Your actual bitrate is around 560kbps for the video. Windows Movie Maker had a TARGET bitrate of 1840, but in reality it ended up being much lower. To prove it, take your file size in bytes, divide by 128, divide that by 230 (the number of seconds in the video), and subtract 160 (the audio bitrate). Now you have the actual bitrate dedicated to the video (560kbps). You need to purposely increase the bitrate, as described in the video response that looks like a simpson.

Hi, This is great a guide! But I can't seem to download Virtual Dub. I downloaded a much newer version, than you used here, and that messed everything up. I tried downloading the one you used, and it said: This application has failed to start because corona.dll was not fonud. Re-installing the application may fix this problem. Any help would be great!

Make sure you're running VirtualDub.exe from the same unzipped folder as the rest of its files (like corona.dll). When you click on the EXE you should also be able to see the other files in that folder (or the program won't find them).
